Words Change the World...

Hi, I’m Len Archibald—a screenwriter, film critic, and proud weirdo from Windsor, ON. I’ve got a B.A. in Film Studies and Production from Arizona State University, which basically means I spent four years learning how to overanalyze movies and drink way too much coffee. For over a decade, I’ve been sharing my love (and occasional rage) for films—first on WLIO’s Morning Edition in Lima, Ohio, and now on my YouTube channel, So B.I.G. Movies, where I geek out about everything from horror flicks to underrated gems. I also empathize with the madness of running a film festival as I served as Executive Director for a couple in Northwest Ohio.

I specialize in writing horror and thrillers, often with a focus on stories from a minority perspective. Why? Because the world needs more voices, more perspectives, and more people screaming at their screens when the protagonist does something obviously stupid.

Oh, and about me? I’m a little “off.” Like, anxiety-and-bipolar-disorder-off. But hey, it keeps things interesting. After years of battling my own brain and second-guessing every word I write, I’ve decided to stop hiding and start sharing my stories with the world. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life’s too short to not chase your weird, wonderful dreams. I also dabble as a playwright, engage in poetry and tend to spit a few bars of fire in my spare time.

So, buckle up. My stories are dark, twisty, and probably a little unhinged—just like me. Let’s make some magic!

My Story

From the moment Len Archibald first saw E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial in 1982, he knew cinema was more than just entertainment—it was an escape, a passion, and a calling. That love for storytelling led him to write and direct numerous stage plays at Central Peel Secondary School in Brampton, where he won multiple awards at the Sears Ontario Drama Festival.

Venturing to Ohio, Len wrote, produced, directed, and edited his first independent feature, Beating Traffic. His dedication to independent cinema extended to festival leadership, serving as Executive Director of the Northwest Ohio Independent Film Festival for three years. In this role, he had the honor of presenting comedy legend and Lima, Ohio native Phyllis Diller with a Lifetime Achievement Award, conducting what would become her final interview before her passing in 2012. He also led the Favorite Flix Film Fest, partnering with the Council for the Arts of Lima and serving on its Board of Directors. Beyond filmmaking, he shared his love for cinema as a film critic on WLIO's Morning Edition alongside Dr. David Adams.

Returning to Canada, Len launched So B.I.G. Movies, a YouTube channel where he reviews new releases, provides retrospectives on Blaxploitation and B-movies, and even offers pro wrestling commentary—another lifelong passion. His academic journey led him to earn a B.A. in Film Production and Studies from Arizona State University.

A true cinephile, his inspirations range from the classics (The Godfather, Seven Samurai, The Seventh Seal, Citizen Kane) to modern masterpieces (Malcolm X, Midsommar, Black Panther). Beyond his love for film, he proudly embraces his passion for comics and professional wrestling, using these influences to craft unique, dynamic characters. Drawing from his lived experiences as a person of color and someone navigating Bipolar Disorder, his stories resonate with themes of perseverance, resilience, and triumph over adversity in the face of oppression and injustice.

While horror and thrillers remain his wheelhouse, Len refuses to be confined to any one genre—because at the heart of it all, he simply loves telling a damn good story.
